MidlifeProwler	TSB 21-10-99 states that differential fluid may leak from transaxle due to insufficient venting. A new vent tube kit (part no. 05011589AA) was designed to correct this problem. Remove drain & fill plugs from differential and allow gear oil to drain out completely. reinstall drain plug and tightened to 60 in.-lbs. on torque wrench. refill differential with 32 ounces of Mopar 75w90 gear oil (part no. 04549624) or equivalent. Next, install revised fill plug with vent tube and tightened to 35 ft-lbs. Orient the vent tube between the ribs of the dfferential cover and be sure it does not contact with any metal surface. In cold climate areas, under certain driving conditions, pressure can build up in the differential case forcing fluid out through the primary vent tube at the top of the differential. Fluid can collect on the top of the differential case and or drip to the ground. SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Differential fluid buildup near the differential vent and/or dripping on the ground. DIAGNOSIS: Inspect the top of the differential for fluid. Fluid may drip down the side to the ground. catfish	steve,go into the garage on home page.tsb are there,not sure if they have more after 2002.you might call the dealer and see if any more have been added after 2002. ------------------
392HEMI	Took my 2000 to the Chrysler Dealer and showed the TSB to the Prowler Tech. He ordered the parts and will install, AT NO COST, the vent tube etc.. It showed leakage from the tiny vent in the fill plug and was all the way back on to the trailer. Guess that helped the case. catfish	glad you got it fixed,and at no charge,cant beat that.its funny,that ive seen or heard of only a few cars have had that problem,yet replaced thousands of window regs,with no fix our tsbs that im aware of.go figure ------------------
Dick Henry	I am a new prowler owner so I am educating myself with the help of this forum. The other day I noticed differential fluid on the floor and thought oh no. There was no leak before. Upon further inspection the leak appeared to be coming from the differential vent tube. I searched the web & found no information. I then did a search of the forums and found the above information. The knowledge found here is worth a million dollars. So I contacted a Chrysler dealer in reference to the part. Thank goodness I got a parts guy that knew what he was doing. Chrysler no longer manufactures or carries that part but he gave me the name & telephone number of a company that might have it. The company’s name is Vintage Parts. They have a website at Vintageparts.com. Just put the part number in the search box and they might have it. Their isn’t much information in the parts description. It just says vent. But they had it. Apparently a cold front caused the problem to appear and that’s how I noticed it. A pressure change inside the differential case. If any more prowler owners have noticed this problem this is the factory fix. I don’t know how many more of these they have in stock.
